Pirates Pound Citrus in TOC opener

The Vineyard Pirates unloaded on Citrus Little League in the opening round of the Tournament of Champions on Thursday night at Heritage Park with a 16-2 mercy in 4 innings. The Pirates when up 9-0 in the first inning and never looked back. The time off seem to be exactly what the Pirates needed as they had their highest run production of the year on patient and timely hitting. Cade Kennedy and Jarret Perry combined for a solid pitching performance.

The Pirates will now advance to the City of Rancho Cucamonga Championship Game on Tuesday night at 7:30pm. Please tell all your family and friends to come out and support the Pirates in their last game of the 2010 season.

Pirates Capture Vineyard Tournament Championship

The Pirates shut out the Reds 2-0 Tuesday evening to seal the Vineyard Tournament Championship as the number one team in the Majors for Vineyard Little League. The Victory was the 21st victory with only one loss for the league leading Pirates. The Pirates got a championship performance from Jonathan Olsen as he shut out the Reds with a no hitter striking out 17 batters and one walk.

Offensively, the Pirates struggled against solid pitching from the Reds managing only two hits but this proved to be enough for the win. Jarrett Perry and Carlos Hernandez reached base on a HBP and a walk. Jonathan Olsen went 1-2 and Cade Kennedy also went 1-2 with a clutch hits driving in both runs.

The Pirates will now represent Vineyard Little League in the Rancho Cucamonga Tournament of Champions with the first game on Thursday June 17th at Heritage Park.
